FARO INTERIORS THINKING

The new concept in construction residential and commercial

Remodeling begins with a dream but you must plan ahead. Before you remodel, follow these steps to get your home improvement project started correctly.

Draw Your Dream. Even before you hire a consultant, you can begin drawing out your ideas. If you are expanding or adding a room, think about how the space will be used and how the changes will affect traffic patterns and consider how new construction will affect the overall look of your home.

Learn From Others. One of the best ways to get ideas is to follow the experiences of other homeowners.

Think Ahead. You may dream of having a spacious new addition but if you plan to sell your house in a few years, it wouldn’t make sense to remodel.

Count Your Money. Your remodeling project probably will cost more than you expect. Must-have items could wipe out your savings account, try exploring home improvement loans and other financing options. If you own your home, a line of credit is often the best bet.

Choose your team. If you do not plan to take on the entire remodeling project by yourself, you'll need to hire helpers and you'll want to make sure that those who work for you are qualified, licensed, and properly insured.

Negotiate a Contract. Do not begin remodeling without a written contract making sure everyone agrees on the work that will be completed and how long it will take.

Get Permits. A legal permit is required before you make structural changes to your home. The building permit assures that the remodeling project meets local building codes and safety regulations.
